luscious apples ~

stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples; for I am sick of love.

There is such a flood of emotion that comes from apples ~ from the beginning, sweet blossoms, to the fragrant baked dessert it ends up in, and every crisp bite in between… it speaks of home, love, sensuality ~

Danish Apple Pie

You may question the absence of spice in this recipe, but good, fresh, crispy-sweet apples need no other accompaniment, other than a delectable crust, perhaps!

  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 1/2 c flour
  • 1 t baking powder
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 t vanilla
  • 2 cups diced apples, peeled and sautéed in 1 T butter, until softened
  • 1/2 c walnuts (optional)

beat the egg, gradually adding the sugar and vanilla. add flour, baking powder and salt to create a smooth batter. fold in sautéed apples and nuts, then pour into a buttered and floured (or non-stick spray) 8 inch square pan. bake for 25 – 30 minutes at 350 F.

Cut into squares and serve with homemade caramel sauce and ice cream ~ enjoy. vImage
